You've purchased an encaustic piece (or thinking about it). Now what? Encaustic artwork is a very durable medium that needs a little extra attention, but it's not difficult! With a few easy steps, your encaustic purchase should last you a lifetime. One of the biggest concerns I've heard is whether dust sticks to the artwork like it does to beeswax candle. The answer is simply, no. Encaustic medium is made of beeswax and damar resin (a hardener) as well as pigment. Once the encaustic piece has cured it will repel dust not attract it. Of course, you still have to dust (sorry!) but it won't affect the piece. Buffing it with a lint-free cloth will also bring back the lustre of the piece.
